Gauley
River Pottery Studio and Gallery
At our studio you will find a
wide selection of functional, wheel thrown, handcrafted stoneware and
handmade ceramics. We are located in south central West Virginia between
Fayetteville and Summersville one quarter mile from US route 19 on Mount
Lookout Road and five miles north of the US RT 19 and US RT 60 intersection in Hico, WV. We mostly work similar to an
assembly line. You will see each of us doing what ever job needs
done: throwing, trimming, adding handles and adornments, waxing and
glazing. We are proud of our work and a visit to our studio will let you
learn, first hand, how and why we make pieces a certain way and what we
like about all the items.

The Old
Mount Lookout General Store
The
building we are using was built in 1901 and served as the
General Store and Post Office for Mount Lookout. When we moved into this old building it was in bad shape from years of
neglect. The store had been abandon for some time with a leaky roof
and had no windows or doors. After a lot of tender loving care, we are proud to say we
have brought a piece of history back to life.
